Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
  • 1 sweet apple such as McIntosh or Gala
  • 1 cup Old Fashioned rolled oats
  • ΒΌ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  1. Peel and core the apple. Using the large holes on a box grater, shred the apple and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over high heat bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  3. Stir in the oats, shredded apple, and cinnamon.
  4. Return the mixture to a boil then reduce the heat to medium-low or until the mixture simmers.
  5. Simmer until the oatmeal begins to thicken, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let the oatmeal stand until thick and creamy. This will take about 10 minutes or so.
  6. Adjust the thickness of the oatmeal to a consistency your baby can handle by adding more water, breast milk or formula. Let cool.
  7. This makes about 2 cups of oatmeal. If you have leftovers you can store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When you want to refresh the oatmeal, just a few tablespoons of warm water.
